Kathy's Bio
I am passionate about being both a singer and a songwriter. As you browse through this website you'll learn about my three albums Crocodiles and Rainbows, my original music album Happily Ever After and my album of standards Embraceable You. My latest adventure is The Mindful Music Project , where I'll be working with both children and seniors to teach singing and songwriting. This is such an exciting project offering both at-risk kids and people with early onset dementia the opportunity to express themselves and enhance learning and brain function.
The Beginning
From the age of six, Kathy has loved and been involved with music. Playing the piano or singing, solo or with ensembles, nightclub entertainment or theatre, she is an energetic performer. In the 70's, she formed her own band and created a very popular show featuring the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. In 1980 Kathy put her music career on hold. She became an executive in the cosmetic industry and was able to be home in the evenings with her two sons.
The CDs
She returned to her music career in 2005 with the release of her children's CD Crocodiles and Rainbows. She also became a songwriter with her second CD Happily Ever After. Her latest CD Embraceable You, features all jazz standards. Kathy has achieved a lifelong dream which was to return to music full-time and both write and record because ever since she was a child she knew the music was her passion. Kathy loves to coach and encourage people of all ages in music.
Today
Kathy has created The Mindful Music Project to teach singing, songwriting, rhythm and movement. She is evolving the program to include participants in community and senior centers to encourage brain health. In addition, she is tailoring a program to serve at-risk kids, as music encourages learning and develops lifelong skills for communication and performance,
